'Skippa Bounce' is a 1997 palomino filly, her dam 'Skip Care' is an intensively bred 'Skipper W' mare. 'Bounce' was purchased as a yearling by Gail & Marvin Gebhardt of Deer Park, Washington. It was a while after she settled in at her new home that tragedy struck. 'Bounce' laid down to take a roll and got her hind leg caught in a gate, severing 90% of the tendon. Local vets were at a loss as how to save this filly and recommended she be transported to WSU's Veterinary Facility for screening and diagnoses. Surgery was required and Bounce was given a 50-50% chance of recovery, if she was a good patient and her owners pocketbook held out. She spent the next three months at WSU and then was allowed to spend the next year of recovery at home under the excellent, loving care of Gail & Marvin. I am happy to report that 'Bounce' has made a complete recovery. It has been a long, hard road for 'Bounce' and the Gebhardts, but proved well worth the end results.
